Organization of Liberian Communities in Nigeria

United in fellowship, rooted in heritage.

OLICON brings Liberian communities across Nigeria together in unity, solidarity, and mutual support — sustaining fellowship far from home while contributing to the places we live.

Who we are

A home for Liberians across Nigeria

From earlier community associations to a national organization, OLICON exists to keep Liberians connected — strengthening bonds of fellowship, supporting one another, and preserving a shared sense of belonging in our country of sojourn.

OLICON was formally established in 2016, building on earlier Liberian community associations across Nigeria.

Our purpose

Unity, solidarity, and cohesion

OLICON’s mission is clear: to promote the unity, solidarity, and cohesion of Liberians living within Nigeria’s borders. That purpose guides our gatherings, chapters, and shared work nationwide.

Stories from our shared journey

These reflections come from OLICON leaders and members — shared in the 2026 convention souvenir — about fellowship, service, and belonging.

For love of country we toiled and labour to keep the bond of fellowship alive in a strange land and assist one another to be the better version of him or herself in a land far away from home.

Rev. J. Francis Bonwein James

National President, OLICON

Coming from my home country into a new environment, it was a wonderful feeling to meet people who shared the same heritage, culture, and experiences. From the very beginning, I embraced the community wholeheartedly.

High Chief Mrs. Tina Waripamoere Keme

Former Chairwoman, Rivers State

OLICON continues to reaffirm that unity is not merely an ideal — it is our chosen way forward. We redefine our purpose through renewed focus and collective responsibility, and we embrace all as we build a stronger community together.
